Future Fossils is a light installation by artist duo an atelier of other based on a material research project titled Reviving Fiberglass. Fiberglass is extensively used in fields ranging from design to boating. However, the synthetic resin is not biodegradable and we have yet to find a way to recycle it effectively. Projecting a fictional scene in the year 3022, rather than uncovering stone ruins and clay vessels, Future Fossils speculates an archaeological site of composite fiberglass remains.

production: Rotondes

Timothy Tan previously co-tutored at National University of Singapore and practiced as an architect at Jensen and Skodvin Architects. His research focuses on the impact of material culture.

After graduating with a Master in architecture, Marion Delaporte worked in Barcelona and took part in a building-workshop in Japan. Meanwhile, she’s continued researching the possibilities of abandoned fiberglass boats.

Together they created an atelier of other, bringing together a constellation of independent thinkers and doers moving between the fields of architecture, matter and art, and moulding space and material into tangible experiences.

spot

spot is a cycle of temporary art installations, designed in a space purposely not reminiscent of a regular gallery. The artworks are installed in the middle of the Rotonde 2 and visible through the windows of the Buvette.
