A singular, swooning take on electronica, generating kraut rock style momentum… SINNER DC’s sound has grown denser and more immersive. the group combine reserved, whispery beats with sweeping, filtered guitar and keyboard parts which move litethly between muted melodrama and expansive drifts of sound, sometimes within the same tracks. but despite this tendency to revel in pure texture, sinner dc also demonstrate a healthy appetite for generating kraut rock style momentum. (the wire) GHOST BEES are Romy and Sari Lightman. They met twenty four years ago in a single unit womb. At the time, both had their hands full of creditors from past lives. Today, they are paying off their debts compiled from years of consistent reincarnations. In 2008, Ghost Bees released their debut album, Tasseomancy. It begins in the kitchen of The Grandmother in 1904, along with a collection of tales of past empires and great great ancestry; fabled figures and sorrowful lament, with vocals appendaged together like a two headed balladeer. THE DECLINING WINTER are a musical project led by Richard Adams, the co-founder of Domino Records group Hood, and are influenced by the music of Low, The Durutti Column, Songs of Green Pheasant and early Microdisney as well as the myriad sounds of J Dilla and associates.
Ranging from epic claustrophobia to rustic folk-dub explorations, with spectral atmospheres anchored to pastoral roots, The Declining Winter deliver hypnotic melancholia via abstract hip hop, shoegaze, dub and post rock explorations.
Their debut LP Goodbye Minnesota (Rusted Rail, 2008) was released to rave reviews, and is due to be followed by the release of the Haunt the Upper Hallways EP on Home Assembly Music in May 2009.
