Soleil Noir
The soleil noir is the antithesis of the light, the melancholy, the dark side of things, the spleen… soleil noir (instrumental collective formed in 2011) targets musical minimalism: an encounter between the heaviness of doom and an uncluttered post-metal venturing into long melodic drifts. Three out of four musicians coming from different hardcore and metal bands — try to catch these emotions and oppositions throughout their contrastful arrangements. Along with electronica, the common objectif as soleil noir is to create an intensity based on sound spatiality and immersion, amped up live with visuals by Mik Muhlen. Jason van Gulick
Jason Van Gulick is one of the most inventive drummers on the contemporary music scene, he processes the sounds of his drum set in real time providing an explosive mixture of wild rhythms and abstract soundscapes. He has performed with Carla Bozulich / Evangelista, Stephen O’Malley (Sunn O)))), Chris Corsano, N.U. Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten), Y.E.R.M.O. and the wild interdisciplinary Collective, DEGA! Nataša Grujovic & Steve Kaspar
The ongoing collaboration between accordionist Nataša Grujovic and composer Steve Kaspar keeps on shedding light and darkness on the physicality and abstraction of sound itself. Direct and often unmediated, their concerts are explorations into articulation, dynamics and tone colour, conjuring up an acoustic and electro-acoustic dialogue in real time. Spatialized according to the specific venue of any given performance, Grujovic and Kaspar delve into a direct sensuality of sound and do so by opening up a conversation with their audience.
