TORO Y MOI is 23 year old Columbia, South Carolina native and resident Chaz Bundick. Toro y Moi started in 2001 as a bedroom project but quickly grew into the live performance realm. The songs are born from a plethora of different genres, from freak-folk to R&B to French House — which is heavily influential on Chaz’s newest dance alias, Les Sins. Before any full length album has been released, Toro Y Moi has already received praise from music websites like Pitchfork and Gorilla Vs. Bear as well as upcoming print features in the NME and Dazed and Confused. Hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, GOLD PANDA spent the early part of last year building a reputation as remixer du jour for the likes of Little Boots, Telepathe, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco, Health and The Field, before releasing three EPs of his own material in the summer to huge critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Dazed and Confused, The Guardian, NME and beyond. Live performances soon followed and his invigorated head hunched style quickly won further fans as well as establishing him as an artist who could play live rather than just prod at an expensive laptop.
October 2010 will see GOLD PANDA releasing his debut album on ghostly international. CLOCK OPERA has been stealthily building a name for itself amongst the critical music community. Still with only a dozen UK shows under their belt including supporting Marina and the Diamonds on her sold-out UK tour, Clock Opera is attracting fans and followers from all corners of the musical spectrum. Clock Opera’s remix credentials are becoming legendary with interpretations of Phenomenal Handclap Band’s Baby’ and The Golden Filter’s Hide Me being praised across press and blogs worldwide. Clock Opera’s mythical remix of Marina’s I Am Not A Robot’ (679 Recordings) was hailed by Neon Gold’s head honcho Derek Davies has one of the most gorgeous tracks you will hear in 2010, or ever’, and rightly so. The remix went on to hit No.01 on Hype Machine’s chart as well as No.01 on We Are Hunted’s remix chart. (residentadvisor.net)
