In this practical, hands-on workshop, participants will explore the creative process and learn the basics of building a cohesive photo series. They will then have the opportunity to create their own mini-series during a guided practical session.

No prior experience required — this workshop is open to anyone curious about photography and creative expression.

  • Welcome – 15 min
  • Introduction – 30 min 
    • What is photography?
    • What message are we trying to convey?
    • Presentation of past photo series and creative process by Laurent Sturm and Sana Murad
  • Creative Techniques – 20 – 30 min
    Discussion on composition and special effects (e.g., kaleidoscope technique kaleidoscope lenses, prism filters, bokeh, and light leaks)
  • Practical Session (outside) – 1 hour 
    • Participants photograph 3 subjects: portrait, abstract/​details, and architecture
    • On-the-spot support and feedback from facilitators
  • Screening & Group Discussion – 30 – 45 min

Laurent Sturm is a Luxembourg-based photographer specialising in photojournalism, documentary, and travel photography. A graduate of the Photojournalism programme by Polka Magazine & Speos in Paris, Laurent’s work has been exhibited at Galerie Nei Liicht, Rotondes, Pop Up Galerie Cado+, Kulturfabrik, and Parc Merl.

Sana Murad is a photographer based in Luxembourg whose work blends emotion, memory, and everyday beauty. With a cinematic visual style, Sana documents both personal and social narratives — from dreamy portraits to vibrant street scenes — using both digital and film photography.

Studio Lokal

The From Idea to Series photography workshops are part of the Studio Lokal project. Studio Lokal is a creative initiative by Muse a.s.b.l., designed to empower young people (ages 16 – 30) through hands-on workshops, creative talks, and tailored guidance sessions. Studio Lokal offers a unique platform where learning meets inspiration, and where the next generation of artists, designers, and creators can grow.
