The comparisons with Animal Collective or Captain Beefheart don’t seem to put any pressure on French trio GaBLé. Since 2002, they have been crafting DIY “happy punk meets electro played with toy instruments” type of songs pressed on CD-Rs that they’ve been selling or just giving away to a clos circle. Until the day when British label LoAF decides to bet on their sweet craziness and signs them. 2008 sees the release of “Seven Guitars And A Cloud of Milk”, their heartfelt first proper release. Hailed by a niche press, GaBLé quickly follows with the more sober “I’m OK”. And ok they are, playing live at several big name festivals (Trans Musicales, Eurockéennes, Big Chill, Iceland Airwaves…). In March 2011, after continuous touring and experimentation with goofy instruments, they present to us “CuTe HoRSe CuT”, an album that should solidify GaBLé’s position as one of the freshest and most skilled bands in France.
The “Soundwave – EP” is the first record by CYCLORAMA as a three-piece, with Sebastien Laas on guitars, Pit Reyland on drums and Yves Stephany on bass. Following the “This Is Aerial Space-Rock, Keep Your Hair On !!” album, released in 2010 by founder Sebastien Laas, the latest EP features 6 recordings that capture the exciting live sound of the band’s concerts in 2010/11.
In 2006, ELECTRIC MULLAH claimed to whomever was aware enough to listen to him, that 1996 was the future. It was a response call to al this vintage this, retro that that was going on at the time. ELECTRIC MULLAH made his own music under the pretense that 1996 was a major influence. Or was it juet a metaphor for the non-explored, underestimated influences thtat alot of artists were too busy to care for. MULLAH’s music comes straight from the guts of… wrecked computers. Let’s just say that this right here is pure, unadulterated 8‑bit lo-fi heaven.
