Oakland-based musician Kathryn Mohr released her first EP, titled As If, in 2020, an analog-synth-based amalgamation of dark ruminative songs, which garnered the attention of DIY artists and the record label The Flenser. Her second EP, Holly (2022, co-produced by Madeline Johnston of Midwife), was a shimmering collection of guitar songs with desolate electronic interludes.

Mohr released her debut record, Waiting Room, in January 2025. She wrote and recorded it in isolation over a one-month stay in Iceland. There, during this period of isolation, she turned the dull discomfort of waiting for nothing into a resource, a spring of creativity, and pushed her inner world outside of herself.
