In september 2014, 30 year old Yannis Bastian set off from his home town Berbourg, a small village in eastern Luxembourg, to cycle around the world.
The passion for travelling and moving in his own pace — rather than the athletic challenge — made Yannis chose the bicycle to travel around the world. Follow no schedules, don’t learn for any tests, attend no meetings. Forget about time.
His route led east, from Luxemboug to Turkey, India and Southeast Asia, followed by Australia and New Zealand.
After more than a year on the trip, Yannis started the last big stage in Canada, aiming to cycle all the way down to Argentina.
In March 2017, he arrived in Ushuaia, the end of the world, where time finally caught up with him. Two weeks later, after 32.187km and 951 days on the road Yannis finished his bicycle trip around the world, and as his brother’s best man, he made it to the wedding – just in time.
