After a first visit to open for Nine Inch Nails on 9 July last, the Danish group will now be returning to Luxembourg to present “No More Stories…”, their new album to be released in August.
A great many saw them for the first time on 9 July when they were the supporting group for Nine Inch Nails, but in fact they have been a regular talking point for a good dozen years already.
They are not easy to classify as a group, and indeed Mew seem to make it a point of honour to confuse things further on each album they release, redefining an indie-rock style which has been constantly evolving since the group was formed in 1994.
In 2003, “Frengers”, their first album to go global, was acclaimed as “Album of the Year” at the Danish Music Critics Awards and the group received the ultimate accolade when they were named “Group of the Year”.
It was in 2005 that Mew made their name known throughout Europe with the release of the extremely successful “And the Glass Handed Kites”.
After opening for some high-powered groups (R.E.M. and Nine Inch Nails, to name just two), Mew are now embarking on their own tour as headliners.
