Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, MX Lonely formed in 2022 out of the ashes of other projects. Rae Haas (lead vocals/​synth), Jake Harms (vocals/​guitar) and Gabriel Garman (bassist and producer/​engineer) sought to create a heavier, more aggressive version of a home recording project Haas and Harms had begun a few years before. 

Their music internalizes the ethereality of shoegaze and a love for the icy aggression of post-punk and noise rock, while retaining traditional songwriting sensibilities, with Elliott Smith as a formative influence.
