Concert / Pop & Electro Fm belfast

Couple Árni and Lóa formed FM BELFAST in late 2005 as sort of a joke. Friends and family dug their Christmas song, and so grew their reputation in the streets of their native Reykjavík.
Their second gig saw them whipping an unwitting crowd into a frenzy at Iceland Airwaves 2006 with the help of two new members, Árni Vilhjálmsson and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason (you might know him from the very excellent múm). Now fully formed (although a four-piece at most times, FM Belfast will sometimes count as many as forty members on stage, situation permitting), the band was ready to craft on an album, How To Make Friends”.
The record gained critical and commercial success and made FM Belfast tour Europe and play bigger festivals. Once they returned home Árni and Lóa invited some of their friends and some of Iceland top musicians in their backyard for impromptu sessions and concerts all documented in the film, Backyard”. As they like to say it, FM Belfast is not a band but a labour of love, crafting amazingly catchy and twisted electronic pop anthems. The new LP is called Don’t Want To Sleep“.
