HERMAN DÜNE, also known as HERMAN DUNE (without the diaeresis), actually consists of two musicians… both carrying the moniker of HERMAN DUNE or HERMAN DÜNE. Should we pick a leader, we’d say the title would most fit the slim bearded one who goes by the name of David –Ivar Herman Dune or Yaya Herman Dune or simply Yaya. Then you’ve got Néman or if you prefer, Cosmic Néman Herman Dune. Let us forget the super silly aliases and focus on the music. One sings and plays the guitar, the other one handles the drums and background vocals. The peak of their cult status comes with the 2006 release of the aptly titled ​“Giant” LP. This will be followed by ​“Next Year In Zion” (2008) and ​“Strange Moosic” (2011). Never taking themselves too seriously, HERMAN DUNE take the myth of the tortured singer-songwriter and destroy it with either quirky guitar licks or witty storytelling, never neglecting a good stage performance, where surrealism is never too far away.
