One thing is for sure: MICHEL CLOUP is on a quest. And we’re invited. Since the 90’s, he’s been shaking things up both musically and verbally, be it as a solo act or with bands Diabologum, Expérience and more recently, the Franch-American band Binary Audio Misfits. He’s travelled the world, has been repulsed by its ways, but is still searching for that special spark one calls hope.
Searching for a piece of mind, questionning the unquestionable, expressing frustration, anger, disbelief… CLOUP’s lyrical style hesitates between singing and slamming, the music with its dry riffs and heavy drums is rock at its rawest, even if he’s made heavy use of the sampler in the past. MICHEL CLOUP’s latest disk, the Sonic Youth-esque “Notre Silence” (2011) sees him teaming up with former Expérience collaborator Patrice Cartier, for what happens to be his most intimate record to date.
