MONOPHONA are DJ CHOOK and singer-songwriter/composer/writer/illustrator CLAUDINE MUNO. Stepping away from the warm and folksy sounds we have come to appreciate from her and her band, THE LUNABOOTS, she now delivers mindbending lyrics over gloomy, not-so-warm-anymore downtempo beats, served cold by CHOOK. The latter has also moved away from the musical direction — drum & bass, that is — that made him some kind of a big deal here and overseas. MONOPHONA can be viewed as making, headphone music, the type of tunes which you can listen alone eyes closed, but it also suits any gathering of people up for a pure listening experience.
